Assisted Pull-Ups
Back
1. First find an assisted Pull-Up Machine. The Assist may have your stand on a platform (example shown in video), or kneel on a platform.
2. Find a resistance that is suitable for you. Note that unlike most machines, the HEAVIER the resistance, the easier the exercise becomes.
3. Start by hanging from the bar with an overhand grip. Have your feet (or knees) on the platform.
4. Using your back muscles, pull yourself straight up to the handles. We are aiming to get our chest to the same height as the handles, or at least our chin to handle height.
5. Slowly extend your arms to return to the starting position.
- You will also use your biceps to help pull you up, but focus on engaging your back as it is the primary muscle group we are targeting.
- Keep your body as straight as possible. Keep your core engaged and try not to arch your lower back
- Do not swing or kip up to the bar.
