Barbell Upright Row
Shoulders
1. Start by holding a barbell with an overhand grip and your hands about shoulder width apart.
2. Using your shoulders and arms, bend your elbows and lift the barbell up to about shoulder or upper chest height.
3. Control the movement as you lower the barbell back down to the starting position.
- Your elbows should be going directly to the side and we are aiming to get them perpendicular with the floor.
- Keep your core engaged and stand straight up to avoid hunching over.
- Although we are primarily using our shoulders for this movement, do not lift them up. Keep your shoulders down to avoid shrugging the weight up and compensating with your traps.
